An honest review: Gordon's 0.0% alcohol free

The mindful drinking scene has come a long way, and it's been so cool to see more and more alcohol-free drinks brands popping up on the market! Now even the world famous gin brand Gordon’s has hopped on the trend. Gordon’s 0.0% is a completely alcohol-free gin alternative to help out those G&T lovers who want to cut back on their alcohol intake. But how does this big brand actually fare in the alcohol-free department? Here is my honest review of the new Gordon’s Alcohol Free 0.0%.

Ingredients

First, let’s look at what it’s made of. The botanicals in this AF drink are the same botanicals they use for their most popular Gordon’s London Dry Gin. They also use the same distillation process as their alcoholic gin - so no doubt, you’re still getting a bit of that unique Gordon’s taste. There are 0 grams of sugar and 0 grams of fat - so full marks for it being a super guilt-free and healthy alternative.

Taste

Just by itself, it had a very strong, herbal smell and tasted very sweet and a little citrusy. It definitely has that same earthy, juniper taste that you would expect from gin, but it’s not gin. Don’t expect this alcohol-free alternative to taste like gin when you try it. It doesn't have that slight burn that is such a big part of the experience with alcoholic gin. And it’s definitely a lot sweeter, but it’s a pleasant kind of sweet. To me, it was almost as sweet as a liqueur - which could be a good thing if you’re into more sweet things.

At the same time, it’s a very different taste to soft drinks or other non-alcoholic beverages. It still tastes and feels very adult..

Mocktail-ability

Gordon’s serving suggestion is 3 parts tonic to one part gin and a garnish of lime. Let me tell you I loved this soooo much more than having it neat. It works really well. The juniper taste is still strong, but it’s less sweet and it tastes closer to the original Gordon’s.

It’s smooth and light, but still full of flavour. It tastes like a proper G&T which is something I would never expect from a 100% alcohol-free 'gin'. I highly suggest trying it like this. G&T lovers won’t be disappointed!

Summary

If you can’t drink for any reason or if you want to cut back, but still want something that feels and taste adult, this is a great drink to ask for at the bar or bring to a party.

Unlike other pre-packaged alcohol-free G&T's you can get out there, with Gordon's 0.0%, you can spruce this up however you want; add more lime, add more tonic, whatever!

Obviously it's not an exact gin replica, but you'd be surprised how close it is.

Trust me, it's a must-try!   →   Gordon's 0.0% alcohol free
