Celebrating 21st birthdays without drinking
We all know twenty-first birthdays are a HUGE milestone for many of us and our friends - and usually involves insane amounts of alcohol. But what if we’re trying to reduce how much alcohol we drink, or just simply don’t want to drink? How do we say no to these expectations? Here’s a quick guide on how to ditch the alcohol and still enjoy the party.
Remind yourself what you don’t like about drinking
Instead of being consumed by FOMO or guilt for not joining in, remind yourself of the cons of drinking alcohol. Whether it's the hangovers, the effects on health, the exhaustion the next day, the feeling like you’re not being yourself… or THE TASTE. Keeping this in mind will make it easier for you to opt out from alcohol.
Tell your friends
Tell 1 or 2 close friends that you won’t be drinking for the night. Not only will you have someone to hold you to it, but they can keep you comfortable, hype you up or take you out of weird situations.
